Good Lock is a lock screen app you use in place of your phone's default lock screen. Download a wallpaper from the app, or set your own photos and videos as the background.
There are over 1,200 wallpapers, with new ones every week - photography, AI-made images and editorial illustrations. All free, with no payment and no sign-up. Downloaded wallpapers are saved on your phone, so they keep working offline.
Videos work as backgrounds too, not just photos. And because a filter changes the feel completely, one favourite photo can carry several different looks.
The wallpaper you applied, combined with clock, calendar, schedule and music widgets, is what completes the style of the lock screen.
Besides the widgets that come with the app, more can be downloaded from Settings > Store - so combining the two lets you build a lock screen that matches your own taste.
They are practical, too: you can check your calendar, plans, memos and song lyrics without unlocking.
You can also have a different wallpaper appear each time you wake the phone, or have it change on its own while the screen stays on.
Get Good Lock free (Google Play)Good Lock runs on any Android phone, whatever the manufacturer. The steps above are the same on a Galaxy and on a phone that isn't one.
You won't end up unlocking twice, either. Good Lock appears in place of your phone's default lock screen, so it works just as it did before - unlock it and you go straight to the fingerprint, PIN or pattern set on your phone. The lock itself is still your phone's, so your security stays the same.
Samsung ships a module suite of its own called Good Lock, which changes the wider Galaxy UI and works only on Galaxy devices.
The Good Lock in this guide (good-lock.net) is a separate lock screen app that an independent developer has run since March 2015. It is not affiliated with Samsung Electronics, and installing both causes no conflict. See how the two differ →
