If checking "when was that again?" means waking the phone, unlocking it and hunting for the calendar app, you can cut all of that out.
Checking a single appointment usually takes three steps: wake the screen, unlock, find the app. Repeated a few times a day, it adds up.
Good Lock lets you put a calendar widget on the lock screen. Wake the phone and the month and the day's plans are already there, so there is nothing to unlock.
Good Lock starts with five widgets already placed on the lock screen: a music player, a flip clock, a typographic clock, an analog clock, and a monthly calendar.
Swipe left or right on the lock screen and they come up one after another - the calendar among them, from the moment you install.
To change that, open Settings > Widget. It lists the widgets, and from there you can add one to the lock screen or take it off, delete it, reorder them, and adjust each widget's own settings - so you can keep only the ones you actually use.
The calendar itself works without any permission. To bring in the events you keep in Google Calendar, allow the calendar permission once.
It is an optional permission. Decline it and the calendar still shows, with everything else working as usual; you can turn it on later in Settings > Apps > Good Lock > Permissions.
Good Lock reads your events only to display them. They are never sent to an external server.
The built-in widget is enough on its own, but if you want a different look, more can be downloaded from Settings > Store > Widget - a weekly calendar, more clock and music player styles, and slogan widgets that show text in large type. All free.
There are also over 1,200 wallpapers in Settings > Store > Wallpaper, with new ones every week. A calm background makes the calendar much easier to read.

All of it without unlocking the phone.
The calendar and your plans are readable without unlocking, and so are the apps, bookmarks and contacts you keep in Mini Home. Your phone's lock is asked for only when you actually open one - pick an app in Mini Home and it opens once you unlock.
Good Lock has no lock of its own; it uses the fingerprint, PIN or pattern set on your phone, so security is exactly as it was.
